Shannon number

                                                             Shannon number

Shannon number: the total game In chess is known as shannon number
Question is how many chess game are possible?
So let's find out what is Shannon number and how it's work.
In 1950s Shannon wrote a paper how to program a computer to play chess
In that paper he come up with an estimate
How many game of chess.
So he estimate the no of game would be
10120.
It is massive number if we compare that with atom in observable universe their is about 1080 atom in observable universe so
There are more game of chess
How did he come with its massive number?
He looked some game of chess and he said well on average at any position there are about 30 legal move that you can make . If one player come with other player so it was two moves
                 30×30=900
In just two moves total 900 play
So it means one player goes first then second player and next then the next player.
So in chess terminology there are white player then black and so on..

                        30 moves at any position
Let if any stage first player has 30 moves and second player has 30 moves so it 30 ×30
If there was 3 moves it would be 30×30×30 if there was 4 moves so 30×30×30×30.

Shannon said the game about 40 moves that was chess terminology so it means 80 plays
So this is all shannon did He said a game about 30 legal move 80 play that is arround
10120
                        30⁸⁰ =10¹²⁰

He did the rough estimate of total no of chess game

After each player has moved 5 times each there are 69,352,859,712,417 possible games that could have been played

Let's suppose another way there are 3 sensible move rather than 30 legal move so the total no of game would be
3⁸⁰ = 10⁴⁰
it is very huge number If you play chess daily you would take million of million year to play all possible chess game.
